Marin Teknikk has signed a design & engineering contract for a Cable ship

news-details

Marin Teknikk has entered into an agreement with NTTWEM, Japan, to deliver design and engineering for a Cable ship.

Marin Teknikk was engaged in a design and concept study and work out a tender package for shipyard pricing in the beginning of the year. The Project has been developed in collaboration with NTT throughout the months, until beginning of July when the Contract for the full scope of design & engineering package services was signed.

NTTWEM is one of Japan's largest telecom companies and Marin Teknikk has been in contact with the company for 25 years. "This is the first major contract with NTT and we at MT are pleased and honored for their confidence," said Sales Manager Richard Gjerde. Currently, the Owner does not want to release more information about the vessel.

It is also very gratifying that the work on the ship itself has been awarded to a local shipyard, Green Yard Kleven (GYK), with which MT has had a long and good cooperation for many years. In the past year, GYK has also rebuilt 7 offshore vessels of MT design plus another design, where Marin Teknikk has supplied drawings, calculations and production documentation to all of them. These assignments have given a lot of work to both MT and GYK. Most are for foreign customers who are satisfied with the good interaction and efficiency between designer, shipyard, class and suppliers in the area.

Several reputable suppliers from Norway and northern Europe will deliver equipment for the new contract to the NTTWEM vessel.

CEO Svein-Rune Gjerde points out that this is a very gratifying and important contract for both MT and GYK. "For Marin Teknikk, this contract, together with several other projects, helps to ensure increased activity. This also means that we are in the process of hiring more new employees both in Norway and at our offices in Poland.
